Pacific Fares Explained

  • Pacific Smart Saver - our lowest fares for travel between Vanuatu and New Zealand or Australia. On average 35% of our seats on Pacific flights will be Smart Saver fares. Being the lowest fares, they are also the least flexible. They are not eligible to accrue Airpoints Dollars™, not able to be upgraded using Airpoints Dollars and Airpoints™ Companion Tickets may not be purchased in conjunction with these fares. These fares are non-refundable and non-transferable. You can change your flight up until the day before departure, subject to a change fee of NZD $100 per person for fares to New Zealand or AUD $100 per person for fares to Australia, plus a service fee and any difference in fare price. Payment must be made in full within 24 hours of booking.
  • Pacific Flexi Saver - travel on our mid-range fares and earn Airpoints Dollars when you fly. These fares are changeable should your plans change, subject to a change fee of NZD $100 per person for fares to New Zealand or AUD $100 per person for fares to Australia, plus a service fee and any difference in fare price. Payment must be made in full within 7 days of booking.
  • Pacific Flexi - change flights or get a full refund right up until departure with these flexible fares. If you don't show up for your flight, your fare is still 50% refundable. There's no fee to make a change, although you'll need to pay a service fee plus any difference in fare price. Once you've booked your Flexi fare, it must be paid for 60 days before you travel. Or if you book within 60 days of your flight, your ticket must be paid for within 14 days.
  • Pacific Business Class - enjoy the same flexibility as a Pacific Flexi fare, with additional benefits of no ticketing restrictions and being able to change or cancel your ticket after departure if you miss your flight. Business Class service is not offered between Vanuatu and Rarotonga or on domestic New Zealand sectors.

Choose your ticket depending on the flexibility you need. The rules and restrictions of Pacific fares are different so you need to be careful when choosing your fares. Make sure you understand the fare rules and conditions before purchasing a ticket since some fares become "use it or lose it" on the day of departure.

Checking In for Pacific Flights

You'll need to be checked in at least 90 minutes before your flight, or 2 hours at most other international airports. This is particularly important if you are travelling on a Pacific Smart Saver or Pacific Flexi Saver fare. If you miss your flight, these are "use it or lose it" types of fares and you will have to buy another ticket!
